Weds and Thurs

I will be away from the office on both Wednesday and Thursday. I have insurance classes on those days, slightly out of town (Irving for those that know the lay of the land around here). Anyway, I won't be able to post anything on either of those days, but I promise to come up with something totally terrific for Friday (I swear, no more declarations of love for my laptop either). I'll have to do some serious digging in the gray matter and cook up something special! Let's just hope that it doesn't end up burnt like the rest of my cooking. ;)

For now I leave you with these:
What is greater than God,
Meaner than the Devil,
Poor people have it,
Rich people don't want it,
And if you eat it, you will die.
-AND-
Little Miss Endicott,
With a white petticoat,
And a red nose,
The longer she stands,
The shorter she grows.
-AND-
What never has been and never will be?
You can leave your answers in the comments!!!
I'll post the answers on Friday along with the promised post.

I {heart} my Laptop!!

I'm not even connected to the internet yet, and I'm already in love with my laptop. I'm such a geek! In my not so humble opinion, my laptop is running a close second to being as great as sliced bread, and maybe even better than peanut butter!! When I get on-line, I'll probably go completely over the edge! As it is now, my computer will have it's own room!

I really, really, really, really, really, really love my laptop :)

Okay, I'm gonne quit before I get all emotional!!

From my Laptop to You (SORTA)!

This is a practice entry for my blog. I am attempting to create blog entries on my laptop, save them to a disk in order to upload them to my blog at a later time. Hopefully this will be a success!

These are kinda funny!

Senior Personals

The following "Senior" personal ads were seen in Florida and Arizonanewspapers: (Who says seniors don’t have a sense of humor?)

FOXY LADY: Sexy, fashion-conscious blue-haired beauty, 80’s slim, 5’4'’ (used to be 5’6"), searching for sharp-looking, sharp-dressing companion. Matching white shoes and belt a plus.

LONG-TERM COMMITMENT: Recent widow who has just buried fourth husband looking for someoneto round out a six-unit plot. Dizziness, fainting, shortness of breathnot a problem.

SERENITY NOW: I am into solitude, long walks, sunrises, the ocean, yoga and meditation. If you are the silent type, lets get together, take our hearing aids out and enjoy quiet times.

WINNING SMILE: Active grandmother with original teeth seeking a dedicated flosser to share rare steaks, corn on the cob and caramel candy.

MINT CONDITION: Male, 1922, high mileage, good condition, some hair, many new parts including hip, knee, cornea valves. Isn’t in running condition but walks well.

MEMORIES: I can usually remember Monday through Thursday. If you can remember Friday, Saturday and Sunday, let’s put our two heads together.

It's 3:00 and somewhere....

It's 3:00 and somewhere a plane is taking off, a ship is setting sail or a train is leaving the station, and I'm not on it.

There are places new to me in any direction I choose, and yet, here I remain.

What's Up

Mom is out of the hospital with pending appointments with two different specialists. The hospital doctors never could find anything wrong. On top of the dizzy spells, Mom has caught the bug I've been battling for the last week. Having this cold/flu/allergies/whatever has made me appreciate the little things I take for granted like breathing, talking and sleeping. I'm so congested, that if I try to to take more than shallow breaths, I start coughing. If I talk too much at once, I start coughing. For a wind bag like me, this is nearly torture! The only way I can really sleep, is sitting up. If I try to lie down, I more or less drown. THIS IS NOT FUN.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY KELLY!!!! (again) ;)

What's been going on

Mom has been in the hospital since Sunday evening. She is having severe dizzy spells, disorientation and blurred vision. They have done numerous tests, but still can not find the source of the problem. Mom is getting more and more irritated with every hour that passes. After three days, the doctors still have no clue, but they won't release her.

Today it's more of the same. They still don't know what's wrong, they still won't release her. On top of that, they have her on a low sodium, low cholesterol menu, which is basically the blandest food possible. I can understand the low sodium thing. Mom has high blood pressure. However, the low cholesterol diet is a joke. Mom has never had problems with her cholesterol. In fact, her cholesterol has always been low.

After three days of being poked, prodded, scanned, starved and denied nicotene, Mom is NOT a happy person. Hopefully, for the safety of all involved parties, they will let her go home today.

Land Locked

It's been so cool the last couple a days. I feel winter creeping in. I guess we're getting residual effects of the hurricane. I more or less grew up on the gulf coast in Corpus Christie. I miss the beach. The sand, the salt and the surf are a part of me. Like some people are part of the mountains or the woods, I am of the sea.

There are a lot of lakes around Dallas/Ft. Worth. DFW is actually part of the Texas Lakes Trail. Even though I'm less than an hour away from water (in any direction), it's not the same as being able to stand on the beach and look across time itself and feel it lapping around your ankles. At least that's kind of the way it is to me. It's very humbling, standing on the edge of forever.

I rode out two hurricanes while we lived in Corpus. People around here have no clue as to how terrible they can be. They think tornados are the bad? Hurricanes breed tornados. During one of the hurricanes my family went through, at one time there were 5+ tornados blowing around the downtown area (about a mile from where we were) all at the same time. I remember people drowning AFTER the storm had passed. The floodwaters were so high, people were getting caught up in the debris and dying. My uncle's boat was blown up unto shore about a 1/4 mile away from where he had it anchored. I guess that's one good thing about being land locked, no hurricanes.

Even Hard Bodies Can't Escape Societies Over Inflated Expectations!

LONDON (Reuters) - He is an icon of male beauty but Michelangelo's David is far from physically perfect with a bad back, weak hip and even hammer toes, according to a health expert.

The problem is poor posture and lack of flexibility, says Alan Herdman, one of the country's leading teachers of the Pilates exercise regime.

"His pelvis is all wrong," Herdman said on Wednesday, 500 years to the day that the 4-metre marble statue epitomising Renaissance male beauty was unveiled to the people of Florence.

"It is thrust forward and pushing into one hip," said Herdman, credited with having introduced Pilates to Britain in 1970. "The right side isn't straight. He will have a weakness in one hip and suffer from lower back weakness and pain."

Herdman concedes David has a "good pair of legs" despite hammer toes on his left foot. But even David's much admired rear end leaves something to be desired.

"If you look at the rear view, you will find that the right buttock is not as strong as it should be because he is sitting into the hips, and the weight distribution is all wrong."

Could Pilates have put David straight? Herdman says that regular exercises would have put a new spring in David's step and helped him to achieve better posture.

Developed by German-born Joseph Pilates in the early part of the 20th century, the exercise regime is designed to strengthen the anatomical centre of the body and encourage correct posture.

Next week all of Skakespear's works will be re-written into a more politically correct format and the Mona Lisa will be evaluated for a long needed cosmetic "touch up". ;)

BTW...I'll be taking off Friday to take my one, two kitties to the pet psychic! NOT.

Pain in the A$$

Seeing as most of the persons reading this are close personal friends of mine, I don't mind sharing this. Today I woke up with an awful pain in the ass. Not a guy mind you, but a literal pain in the ass. I have a major sore spot in my right hip. I don't know what I did, but OUCH!

Okay, enough about my arse. The Bitch convention was fun. I won the title "ANGEL" Bitch this year!!! A special thanks to all of my friends that voted for me. And I doublely appreciate those of you that thought enough of me to vote TWICE!! What kind of election would it have been without a little contraversy! Having a good time at the convention almost makes up for having to stay home Saturday night because of my car breaking down yet again.

I got all dolled up Saturday night. I was even wearing a dress (a REALLY short dress I might add). On my way to the club, the damn car started overheating. I stopped and added water and oil (both were low but not dangerously low). I took off again, but the overheating continued. I finally stopped and called Mom and Gene to come get me. It was already after 10PM. Gene and I thought we had found the problem, but we would have to wait until morning to fix it. We were thinking it must be one of the hoses. WRONG!! The next day, when we checked it out in the day night, we found the real problem. The heater core is out. I had to call my friend Dave (my car Doctor) in to bypass the heater core. That type of mechanic work is more than a little out of my league! Dave patched me up until I can afford the parts to fix it right.

As of right now, everything is okay.

Perpetual Motion to EYOB

Perp Mo has been a hobby/interest of mine since I was about 13 yrs old. It was at that time, that I was first introduced to perpetual motion and was told that it couldn't be done. I don't believe that to be true.

From that point on, I began to study perp mo and the various attempts that have been made over the centuries. Studying the various machines and the reasons they did not work, has been a valuable tool in my own little quest. I have several ideas and even a few designs for machines of my own. Some of them I found to be flawed early on still others remain to be investigated. At present, my favorite hobby is on hold. I'm focusing on getting a laptop for my home office/lab. In a couple of months, I should have everything set up to my liking. At that time, I will be able to defer both time and money to me pet project.

I won't be posting details of my work here for obvious reasons but, I may ocassionally post updates. If there is anything else you want to know, ask me.

Neglect

I know, I know, I've been neglecting my blog. Things have been busy here at the office. YEAH, I've actually been WORKING! Hard to believe I know, but even I have to buckle down and make a living once in awhile. Anyway, last week was kinda rough, but it workrd itself out. Once again I'm on an even keel. Or at least as even as it gets in my topsy turvy little world.

I'm gearing up for the Bitch Convention Sept 6th and the Oldies Festival Sept 11th. So far September is looking to be a pretty good month! I hope to work in another trip to Corsicana. I may even take a vacation day or two, so that I can stay a few days instead of just the weekend.

I'm stuck on The Remedy by Jason Mraz
(if you've got the poison, I've got the remedy)

If you haven't heard him, you GOTTA check him out. I may have to buy the CD, he's that good.

I guess that's it for now. Happy Hump Day
